All Aboard America is the First Transportation Company to Become a Certified Autism Center™

All Aboard America! is the first transportation company to earn the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The Certified Autism Center™ designation is awarded by IBCCES to organizations who have completed a training and review process and are committed to serving individuals with Autism and other sensory needs.

“All Aboard America! is a proud partner of Visit Mesa to be the first Autism Certified destination. Located in Mesa Arizona and operating in the Valley of the Sun for over thirty-two years, the All Aboard America! family of employees maintain deep roots in the local community. Our vision has always been to provide a travel experience that exceeds accepted standards through safety, value and trust. Going the extra mile to become Autism certified was an easy decision to make. Certification provided our family of employees with the knowledge and ability to provide support and travel related services to individuals on the Autism Spectrum as well as their families.”

For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the leader in cognitive disorder certification for healthcare, education and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES recognized that many families with children who have special needs have limited travel options. In response to this need, IBCCES created training and certification programs specifically for the hospitality and travel industry. While many destinations tout “autism-friendly” options, this phrase means something different to everyone and does not necessarily indicate a true understanding or commitment to serving these guests.

More parents and individuals are seeking out destinations and organizations that have completed a certification program through an accredited source. IBCCES is the only credentialing organization providing this type of certification, which includes evidence-based information as well as the perspectives of individuals with Autism, alongside other tools and resources such as onsite reviews and customized recommendations to ensure the program is a long-term commitment and has a lasting impact.

“The realization that being ‘friendly’ is simply not enough ensures that in the years to come, true inclusion will become the norm. We are excited to see All Aboard America champion this cause,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.

IBCCES created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for families and individuals looking for travel and recreation options that lists certified destinations and travel professionals. Each destination listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) requirements.
