Turning Pointe Autism Foundation – Adult Services
Established in 2007 to raise the quality of educational supports for children and young adults with autism, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation creates best practice learning environments to increase independence, improve communication and socially appropriate behaviors. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, we rely on the partnership of volunteers, donors, school districts and Employment Partners to ensure a sustainable and meaningful future for our mission and students.
Adult Services Program:
The Employment Training Program or “ETP” is an opportunity for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, social and communication challenges, and other learning differences. The program is open to post-secondary students looking to improve their skills in self-advocacy and communication, enthusiasm and attitude, teamwork, networking, problem-solving and critical thinking, and professionalism. Turning Pointe partners with local employment partners to provide students access to hands-on training opportunities in work settings and on-site mock training environments.
The Foglia Family Adult Services at Turning Pointe work with research-based proven interventions to improve post-graduate student’s communication, independence, socially appropriate behaviors, and to develop employability skills. Students are supported by a Special Education Teacher (LBS1), Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), an administrator with a master’s degree in a related field, and aides with paraprofessional or substitute teaching licenses. This dynamic team of skilled professionals collaborates closely with a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver exceptional care and expertise! The overall goal of the program is to promote students’ ability to live and function as independently as possible in home and employment settings, while focusing on individual goals and progress for each student.
