The Carousel Center
At the Carousel Center, we are always learning and doing fun things!
Through small groups, educational activities, and leisure activities, we will create the most individualized experience for your loved ones. Our staff-to-individual ratio is determined by wants and needs, in addition to their acuity score*. We have a certified coordinator that plans our monthly recreation calendar and develops educational plans specific to individual needs.
Family-owned and operated for over 30 years, the Carousel Center is a Certified Autism Center™ offering day programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission is helping individuals find their place in the world as we work closely with them and their families to “turn their lives around”—a nod to the carousel’s motion and the positive changes we support through fostering independence, creating meaningful connections, and encouraging active participation in everyday life.
We provide many opportunities for individuals to get involved in the community through group outings, volunteering, and social events that build confidence and promote inclusion. At our facility, Sophia’s Place features calming and music rooms designed specifically for sensory-sensitive individuals. These rooms let visitors control their environment through touch, sight, and sound, creating a soothing and therapeutic experience tailored to each person’s needs. We also host foam parties using the HD Pro Stacker Foam Cannon, a Certified Autism Resource (CAR), creating sensory experiences that everyone can enjoy in a safe and welcoming environment!

*Acuity score is an assessment done in seven areas of living skills that identifies strengths and weaknesses which determines a staffing ratio in a workshop setting.
