Ute Pass Regional Health Service District (UPRHSD)

Ute Pass Regional Health Service District has 31 full-time field employees ranging from EMTs, Paramedic, Critical Care Paramedic, and Community Paramedic. UPRHSD provides 9-1-1 Advanced Life Support ambulance services 24/7 – 365 days a year and covers 539 square miles that include parts of Douglas, Teller, El Paso, and Park counties. The district consists of both semi-urban and rural areas that serve over 19,000 residents with that number growing exponentially during the summer months due to tourists and travelers taking advantage of summer sports and activities. UPRHSD has an annual call volume of about 4,000 calls for service. In addition to ambulance services, UPRHSD has an extensive Paramedic Advanced Care Team (PACT) that consists of highly trained board-certified Community Paramedics that provide various and unique services such as telehealth and simple lab testing all done in the home, mental health and substance use crisis services that includes tele-behavioral health, food insecurity support, safety programs and community education. Ute Pass Regional Health Service District is currently the ONLY emergency service agency in Colorado that holds the accreditation of Certified Autism Center™.

In addition to the above, the Paramedic Advanced Care Team (PACT) provides assistance in accessing resources for counseling, mental health placement, detox, and outside resources and agencies. We just received funding for communication tablets that can be used in a patient who has ASD or SPD. We will additionally be building sensory kits, and I recently took donation of over 300 stuffed animals that will be placed on all of our ambulances and community paramedic vehicles.

UPRHSD is always looking for ways to increase accessibility. Currently, the UPRHSD Administration building at 1017 E HWY 24, Woodland Park, CO 80863 is ADA compliant with ground level entry.

Additionally, UPRHSD utilized a language line and language cards for effective communication with funding approved for communication tablets. UPRHSD utilizes a wheelchair van for secure van/wheelchair transports. ADA complaint website featuring further accessibility in final stages of planning.
