Q’ Corner is now a Certified Autism Center™, designated by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The Q’s team has completed autism training and certification through IBCCES to build upon their ability to create an inclusive atmosphere for children of all needs.
“Inclusion is no Illusion in our facility! We believe in not only providing an inclusive environment but to truly champion inclusion, we must be the cornerstone in our Q’mmunity,” said Q’s Corner owner, Candace Hayes. “Having our staff trained as Certified Autism Specialists and having our facility designated as a Certified Autism Center™ will allow us to be a point of trusted resources for our families and a connection point for our providers and local businesses.”
Q’s Corner is also creating the Q’mmunity Alliance Program to help families, partners, and staff effectively interact with individuals of all abilities and special needs to build a more inclusive community, “Q’mmunity”. The Q’mmunity will consist of providers, local businesses in various industries, law enforcement, educators, and parent advocates who are more sensitive and aware of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through the non-profit Puzzle Play Inc., Q’s Corner will host its first Robotics course named “Q-Bots” for 6 years and older participants. This course is 10-week where participants will work with their very own robot and teach coding commands! Q’s Corner is very excited to offer this course to clients as part of their STEM initiative designed by an Inclusive Instructional Design Educator.
“Specialized training and certification are important for professionals working with autistic clients or guests to help ensure they can feel welcomed and thrive. We’re excited that Q’s Corner has taken steps to be a leader in their area,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.
For more than 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for education, healthcare, and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES provides evidence-based training and certification programs created in conjunction with clinical experts and autistic individuals in order to provide professionals serving individuals with cognitive disorders a better understanding of what these disorders are, industry best practices, and the latest research in these areas.
